four day weekend

I'm not ready to go back to work. It's going to be a long and full week. Things to crochet, bills to pay and other things adults are supposed to do.

Thankfully I had the last four days off. I tried to make the most of it. It rained the last two days, which really didn't effect my plans too much since I spent all of Saturday in my house clothes lounging around and doing pretty much...well not nothing.

The job asked me to come in on Sunday, but I declined. I wanted a full weekend off and I had things to do...like grocery shop and bake cupcakes. Nothing important, but important enough that I wanted to stay home. It's how I keep control of my schedule. Ha!

Thursday was nothing special. Gym in the morning and then I dicked around at home all day. I'm fancy.

Friday was girl date with my friend Telissa, but first I got up early and hit the gym. It was an arms day and I thought I'd give the 20 lb. dumb bells a shot with the chest press and I killed it. I wasn't sure I could do it, but I did. I felt like a beast.

We started girl date by stopping at the post office so I could pick up a package of fabric I ordered (that was postage due) and then we went to have Thai food in Fountain Square. I wish I could move down to Fountain Square, such a fun area and closer to downtown than I live right now. I ordered my usual, coconut curry. I can make it at home, but I like it so much that ALWAYS order it when I go to a Thai restaurant. One of these days I'll step out of my comfort zone.

We ran a few more errands after lunch. I picked up some yarn for more hats and we stopped by Target. Who doesn't love a trip to Target? I found out it was National Taco Day and told Telissa that we had to have tacos for dinner. It was only right.

We headed back to Fountain Square to walk around. It was First Friday so a lot of places were open late and there was a gallery walk. We stopped in this fun repurposed furniture store and I wanted all the furniture for my future apartment. They had all sorts of fun stuff. We also walked passed a store front marketing office where there was a cat hanging out in the window, just watching all the people on the sidewalk. He was super cute. I want a cat. And a dog too.

We stopped at New Day Meadery for a glass of mead before dinner. I got a currant something or other. It was tasty. I really shouldn't have a drink on an empty stomach. It rarely sits well with me. My face got very warm and I ended up with a bit of a headache.

After New Day it was time for tacos. We went to one of Telissa's favorite places, Revolucion. Telissa mentioned she wanted something similar to the guy below as one of her next tattoos. I told her if she didn't get it as a tattoo, I would. All the art in this bar/cafe was awesome. Because it was First Friday, the kitchen was backed up so we had quite a wait for a food.

This was my first time at Revolucion. I plan to go back again and again and again. Actually I plan to have dinner there for my birthday. The tacos were fantastic. A great way to celebrate National Taco Day. They had all kinds of different sauces that were made in house to put on them. I've got to go back and try them all.

It was almost midnight when girl date ended. When I got home I was so tired I was ready to pass out. it was a good day. Great workout, awesome food and good company. I love my Friday dates. They make the rest of the week bearable.

I told Telissa I didn't plan on leaving my apartment at all on Saturday. Nothing would get me out of the house. I stuck to that. I slept in until almost noon. Something I NEVER do. Then dicked around most of the day and didn't really get started on my to do list until almost 3. I spent most of the day trying to finish up my birthday wish list post and finishing up some hats I had started to crochet awhile back.

The weekend off ended with a day of grocery shopping, trying to finish up this birthday wish list post and baking. I got a bug in my butt the other night about dark chocolate cupcakes and thought...well I've got to pick up groceries, I mine as well pick up some extra stuff for cupcakes too. And I did. They're delicious. Thankfully I don't have to worry about eating them all because I took half of them to work so my coworkers can polish them off. Our Asst. Manager is pregnant. She'll probably eat half of them.

I could use another day off. Or all the rest of the days off. It's only October, but the kids are on fall break so it'll be busy and then before you know it, it'll be the holidays. I have to enjoy these days off while I can.

So, how was your weekend?

National Taco Day, WHAT? How can a taco loving gal like me miss that? Dude, that taro ice cream looks AMAZINGLY delicious. I'd like to have a scoop. And I feel you on the curry. I can make a decent curry, but I always order it whenever I go out for Thai!
