John Legend - Stay with You

Oh I'll stay with you through the ups and the downs
Oh I'll stay with you when no one else is around
And when the dark clouds arrive
I will stay by your side
I know we'll be alright
I will stay with you

This is pretty much how I feel. You have to work through the tough times.

boom bap...muzak! v. 01.13

Another things I like (Tuesday) feature. Some of the music that I enjoy. The first two songs I tend to play on repeat on my iPod. Other than that I have nothing significant to say about this handful of songs. Enjoy!

Your Summer Song - Exile ft. J. Mitchell

Soul Kiss - Lee Wilson ft. Mos Def

Feelings - Whitney Coleman ft. Alpha.Live (a local artist, the dude is a close friend of mine, pain in my ass too)

Jesus Saves, I Spend - St. Vincent

You Are Not My Friend - Norah Jones

What do you like to listen to?

5AT: MetroGnome Mixes and easy cooking

 five awesome things

  1. DJ MetroGnome's NEW Collections & Connections Mix - I love just about all of DJ MetroGnome's mixes. They get the most play on my iPod. The play count is ridiculous. The way he blends music together makes my soul sing. Go now and listen to this mix and then download it too. One of my favorite mixes that he's done is his Hug Life vol. 2. I call it pre-coitus, during and post coitus music.
  2. consignment checks - These suckers are the best because they are always unexpected. I open up my mailbox and it's sitting there all hey honey, how are you. I'm like what's up. I'm better now that you're here. Come to mama. Unexpected money in the mail, how can that not be awesome.
  3. Kraft cheese meal mixer things - I would go look up what these things are actually called, but I'm way too lazy to do that right now. Basically it's a separated plastic bag with cheese and other breading type things and you throw your meat in and shake it up and bake. Easy peasy meal and so good. I had chicken parm and then made my own tomato sauce to go with. Best dinner this week.
  4. banana, Nutella and peanut butter smoothies - mmmmm...a nice mix of fruit, chocolate and nuttiness. I froze the bananas and I think it made the texture much creamier than a smoothie. Delicious. I want to make these everyday.
  5. YouTube - I spent an hour or so watching quilting tutorials and now I'm excited to get quilting. I love how YouTube gives you the ability to learn things by watching other people doing them. What were we doing before YouTube existed? I've also HOURS watching make up tutorials and if not for them I wouldn't know how to do red eyebrows or apply make up properly or so many other things.

epic adventures

Saw ScruffyNerdy last week at Coaches. We hugged like it was nothing. I like it when shit just flows like that. No awkwardness.

TheMC had a listening party this past Thursday for the album he released on Tuesday. My plan was to drive, but AT didn't get back from church in time...well she did, but I already had a ride coming, so I just got a ride instead. It started out as a sausage fest which I expected, but then a lot of ladies showed up. It also seemed to turn into a Twitter Meet Up. My ride left me to myself to sit with some girl and then Milk&Cookies ended up keeping me company.

Speaking of which, we ended up having a Twitter DM convo that got a little hot. Um yeah...which led to us spending 5 hours talking Saturday night because neither of us would make a move. It was pretty fun and funny. BTwice has sensed that there's something going on between us on Twitter. LOL. It was bound to happen. I'm not hiding anything. Might not talk about it so publicly, but I'm not hiding anything.

By the time Friday ends I will have worked 7 days straight. I WILL survive it. Then Saturday it's Pride and Sunday is a photo shoot. I'm off on Monday too. Woo! I don't mind getting a lot of hours, but man...so many days in a row without a break is hard. I plan to have summer adventures of epic proportions and work my try to cramp my style. But someone's got to fund these adventures.

I really need to get to crocheting these hats. I was supposed to send out at least a week ago. It's just been so hot that I really haven't wanted to touch the yarn. But I will. I have to. I can't be such a slacker. It's bad business.

Can't wait to get my Hello Kitty Vans.

Just Gimme Happy After

I can't help but listen to this song three, four, five times a day.  I'm patiently waiting for my prince charming to come and rescue me.  I could go into a whole post about the what's and why's, but I think for the most part the song says it all.

Happy After - Algebra Blessett

Once upon a time
There was a damsel
Where deep in the hood
Stood a castle
And she often sat on the stoop
And watched the ghetto youth
Do the things they do
And oh
She dreamed of the day
Her knight would come through
With his shiney number...22
To take her far away
From the heartache and pain
To a world she never knew

[Chorus]
It's the same old story
Just another life time
Girl wants to be rescued
From all the hard times
You can be prince charming
I'll be cinderalla
Don't want a fairy tale
Just gimme happy after

For days on end
she tries to pretend
Like with her
There is nothing, nothing wrong
Although she tries
You can see the tracks from the tears that she cries
All night long
And she constantly weeps
For the house with the picket fence
And the big back yard
And she hopes one day
That a prince will take her away
To a life that ain't so hard

Chorus

If I throw down my hair like Rapunzel
Would you come up and save me
If I'm in deep sleep like a beauty
Would you kiss me to wake me
And if my step mother won't let me out of the house
Would you rescue me
Would you rescue me

Chorus x2

Happily after give me after
Happily after give me after
Happily after give me after
Happily after give me after
Happy happy after
After happy after

I Want That

I was listening to my iPod on the way to work as I always do (it deters the crazies from talking to me and I can lose myself in the music for 50 minutes and be in my own world, in my own thoughts having time to myself.)

I've been listening to a lot of love songs lately and I've throughly played out John Legend's new album Once Again.  I don't need to be listening to love songs, especially before I go to work, but that's another post.

Algebra Blessett's You Do It For Me (see lyrics below) came up today (you can find her HERE on MySpace) on my way to work and today I really listened to the lyrics and I had to go back and listen to the song again.  Then...I teared up and realized that that's something I want.

I want that someone that I wake up in the morning thinking about.  That someone who I care enough about I'd do anything for them, not because I have to, but because I want to.  Someone I can share THIS chapter in my life with.

I know part of my feeling this way and being so sensitive that a song makes me tear up is that I'm going through that phase of "I'm Tired of Being Alone" again.  And things were going well for awhile and then all of a sudden, it seems certain aspects of my life have started to fall apart.  And of course my good ol' favorite: my tendency to bottle up all of my emotions and then letting the bottle overflow.  Always at the most inopportune time.

And yes, you could say there is more backstory to this post, but I'll save it for another post.  All I can really say right now is...I want that and hopefully one day I will.  Hopefully sooner rather than later...but one day.

...got me daydreamin thinking bout rings and got me daydreamin...
Here I go waking up yawning 6 in the mawnin
With you on my mind
I'm laying in bed scarf still on my head
Barely got the cold out my eyes
(reflecting)
Bout the conversation we had last night
And I'm reminded of why
I do the things I do just for you, for you
I don't have to think twice

HK
I do it cuz he real with me
I do cuz he still with me
I do cuz I should
I do cuz your good for me good for me
I do it cuz I trust ya I do it cuz I must
and im doin it for us
I do it cuz I am grateful willing and able
I do it for you cuz you do it for me

V2
You got me day dreamin
Thinking bout rings and switchin up my whole life style

I do it cuz I am grateful willing and able
I do it for you cuz you do it for me

BRIDGE

That I wanna do the same for you
U are simply perfect for me
And I must say this sincerely
Everything I do I do it for you
