four day weekend

I'm not ready to go back to work. It's going to be a long and full week. Things to crochet, bills to pay and other things adults are supposed to do.

Thankfully I had the last four days off. I tried to make the most of it. It rained the last two days, which really didn't effect my plans too much since I spent all of Saturday in my house clothes lounging around and doing pretty much...well not nothing.

The job asked me to come in on Sunday, but I declined. I wanted a full weekend off and I had things to do...like grocery shop and bake cupcakes. Nothing important, but important enough that I wanted to stay home. It's how I keep control of my schedule. Ha!

Thursday was nothing special. Gym in the morning and then I dicked around at home all day. I'm fancy.

Friday was girl date with my friend Telissa, but first I got up early and hit the gym. It was an arms day and I thought I'd give the 20 lb. dumb bells a shot with the chest press and I killed it. I wasn't sure I could do it, but I did. I felt like a beast.

We started girl date by stopping at the post office so I could pick up a package of fabric I ordered (that was postage due) and then we went to have Thai food in Fountain Square. I wish I could move down to Fountain Square, such a fun area and closer to downtown than I live right now. I ordered my usual, coconut curry. I can make it at home, but I like it so much that ALWAYS order it when I go to a Thai restaurant. One of these days I'll step out of my comfort zone.

We ran a few more errands after lunch. I picked up some yarn for more hats and we stopped by Target. Who doesn't love a trip to Target? I found out it was National Taco Day and told Telissa that we had to have tacos for dinner. It was only right.

We headed back to Fountain Square to walk around. It was First Friday so a lot of places were open late and there was a gallery walk. We stopped in this fun repurposed furniture store and I wanted all the furniture for my future apartment. They had all sorts of fun stuff. We also walked passed a store front marketing office where there was a cat hanging out in the window, just watching all the people on the sidewalk. He was super cute. I want a cat. And a dog too.

We stopped at New Day Meadery for a glass of mead before dinner. I got a currant something or other. It was tasty. I really shouldn't have a drink on an empty stomach. It rarely sits well with me. My face got very warm and I ended up with a bit of a headache.

After New Day it was time for tacos. We went to one of Telissa's favorite places, Revolucion. Telissa mentioned she wanted something similar to the guy below as one of her next tattoos. I told her if she didn't get it as a tattoo, I would. All the art in this bar/cafe was awesome. Because it was First Friday, the kitchen was backed up so we had quite a wait for a food.

This was my first time at Revolucion. I plan to go back again and again and again. Actually I plan to have dinner there for my birthday. The tacos were fantastic. A great way to celebrate National Taco Day. They had all kinds of different sauces that were made in house to put on them. I've got to go back and try them all.

It was almost midnight when girl date ended. When I got home I was so tired I was ready to pass out. it was a good day. Great workout, awesome food and good company. I love my Friday dates. They make the rest of the week bearable.

I told Telissa I didn't plan on leaving my apartment at all on Saturday. Nothing would get me out of the house. I stuck to that. I slept in until almost noon. Something I NEVER do. Then dicked around most of the day and didn't really get started on my to do list until almost 3. I spent most of the day trying to finish up my birthday wish list post and finishing up some hats I had started to crochet awhile back.

The weekend off ended with a day of grocery shopping, trying to finish up this birthday wish list post and baking. I got a bug in my butt the other night about dark chocolate cupcakes and thought...well I've got to pick up groceries, I mine as well pick up some extra stuff for cupcakes too. And I did. They're delicious. Thankfully I don't have to worry about eating them all because I took half of them to work so my coworkers can polish them off. Our Asst. Manager is pregnant. She'll probably eat half of them.

I could use another day off. Or all the rest of the days off. It's only October, but the kids are on fall break so it'll be busy and then before you know it, it'll be the holidays. I have to enjoy these days off while I can.

So, how was your weekend?

it's time to begin, isn't it?

Wednesday night = AWESOME!

Last week the staffing agency that I do small jobs for called and asked if I was available to work Wednesday night. I checked my schedule and told my recruiter and told her that I was available. When she responded she said, "Great, I'll book you out for the event." Her statement made me giggle because it kind of sounded like I was an escort.

The only information I was given before hand about the event was that it was a concert for the employees of ExactTarget at Lucas Oil Stadium and that shirts would be provided. When we got to the stadium, our recruiter informed us we'd be greeting employees as the entered the stadium and that the concert was Imagine Dragons and The Avett Brothers. I'd heard of Imagine Dragons, but was clueless about The Avett Brothers.

When we met up with the event coordinator, we found out we'd be doing more than greeting. We'd be handing out flashing bracelets, light up beads and glowing foam fingers. We also found out they'd be feeding us. Yay! (I'm pretty much always down for free food.) We were then given a rundown of the schedule and set off to unwrap all the goodies.

Little did we know we'd be hanging out "back stage" to do a lot of our work. The stage was set up on the field just past the 50 yard line. This was my first time in the stadium (and it wasn't even for a football game) and we got to hang out ON the field.

As we were working through boxes of light up fun we noticed a group of people playing football in the end zone behind the stage, but didn't really pay them any attention because we were busy at work. It wasn't until later that we realized it was Imagine Dragons as they had just finished up their sound check as we were getting ready to work.

I didn't think we'd get to see much of the concert since we'd be busy handing out stuff and making sure everyone was having a good time. Wrong! We actually spent quite a bit of time back stage setting things up, waiting for the next thing to do and just plain dicking around.

It was pretty amazing and a lot of fun. Imagine Dragons put on a great show as did The Avett Brothers. We watched from back stage and from the big screens. EVERYONE was having a great time. Probably because of all the free alcohol going around. ExactTarget takes care of it's employees.

After The Avett Brothers performed there was a short fireworks show and we were off to hand out our last set of light up fun. As soon as we finished our event coordinator told us to have a drink and have a good time. It was just after 11PM and we'd already signed our time sheets for 1AM. Most of grabbed a drink and went out to the dance floor to have some fun.

It was probably the most fun I'd ever had working. We got paid to hang out back stage, have a good time and their was free food and beer, good beer too. I'm thankful that I stumbled across a CraigsList ad for the staffing company a few months ago. So far I've gotten to do two pretty fun events all while making a couple of extra bucks.

conclusions + national donut day + busy saturday

I've come to a couple of conclusions recently, the first is that I would rather spend money on experiences rather than things. I learned a long time ago that things don't hold memories...our minds do. Yes we associate songs, smells, items with these memories...but I don't need all these things in order to have my memories of the fun and good times I've had. The occasional picture or scrapbook does come in handy though. I'm already slowly getting rid off all the unnecessary things I've been collecting, but I want to start doing more fun stuff like zip lining and traveling. And to start I signed up for an Urban Obstacle Course 5k at the end of the month. I even got a friend to do it with me. I think it'll be super fun and can't wait.

The second conclusion I came to is that I'd rather work out for 2 or 3 hours every day than give up the food that I love to eat. I mean I'll try to eat smaller portions and mix in the healthy stuff that I like, but I'm not giving up pastries or bacon or juicy burgers or pizza. Just bring on the treadmill/elliptical/ARC trainer and some weights and I'll go at it for 2 hours straight several days a week. I've already decided that I'd rather have a good workout and hang out at the gym than go to work. I might be turning into a gym junkie. *shrugs* Oh well!

Friday was National Donut Day. I had no idea how I was gonna get my hands on some of these tasty treats, but then a friend of mine instagramed the line for a local donut shop (Long's Bakery, the best donuts I've ever eaten) and I jokingly asked her to pick me up half a dozen and she did. She even dropped them off at my apartment. A sweetheart for sure. I'm always surprised when people are kind enough to do such sweet things so unexpectedly.

Saturday was the Pride Parade and Festival, Indieana Handicraft Exchange, IMAF (music festival), a Kanye West Tribute and a shit ton more here in Indianapolis. It was one busy day.

I started the morning by heading downtown and catching the parade. I've caught it every year for the past 4 or 5 years. It's so much fun and it warms my heart to see people coming together in support. After the parade I headed up to the IHE/IMAF. I've wanted to vend at the IHE, but I've been scared to submit my goods. Maybe next year. I got to see a couple of friends perform at the music festival and had the most delicious ice cream. Half a scoop of mango hibiscus sorbet and half a scoop of belgian chocolate merlot. DELICIOUS!!! Afterwards I went back down to the Pride Festival to catch Mya perform. I totally forgot that she sung Ghetto Superstar. Afterwards it was back home for a quick nap and shower and then back out to catch a Kanye West tribute. I was also fortunate to catch Cyrille Aimee for free.99. Delightfully refreshing and so cute. I'd not heard of her before Saturday night. I'm totally smitten with her music. (Saturday was a day full of free concerts.) Good music and the chance to see friends I hadn't seen in a while. It was fun to talk shit and have a good laugh and be myself.

Had a short text conversation with ScruffyNerdy about my current living situation on Saturday as well. He thinks I need to move (I do). This wasn't his first time mentioning it. It's nice to know that he cares. I'm trying not to think too much into it. It's rare that guys and people in general show concern about my living situation or any other situation. I am working on it though.

Sunday morning I was hoping the job would call me and tell me I didn't have to come in. No such luck. Even though the kids are out of school it's still pretty slow at work. I'm currently on the hunt for a new job. I need more money. I'd also like to work somewhere I can be myself. My friends think my work voice is creepy. Ha!

I'm looking forward to all my days off this week.

mill-ay-walk-ay

That's where I'm headed today. For work. I may have mentioned that in a previous post. I'd go back and check but that seems like extra work that I don't really feel like doing right now because I still need to pack, wash dished, clean up and some other stuff I'm probably forgetting about. You'll miss me right?

This past weekend was pretty awesome. Especially have such a long work week. Pride, the INDIEana Handicraft Exchange and the Talbott Street Art Fair had my day packed and full of sun. I've got some pretty rad tan lines now. *sarcasm* I so love the sun though. I hung around and home on Sunday to recover from such a busy Saturday.

I'm trying to figure out what to do with my craft business blog. I just started sewing and quilting and at the moment have no plans to add it to my business so I'm not sure I want to blog about those things there. I can't decide what to do. I did create a blog just in case I decide to move those things. I also created a blog for my photography, but haven't had any time to add anything to it. When I get back from out of town I'll add it to my to do list.

Anywho, don't miss me too much. And pop on over to my other blog and see what kind of crafty goodness I've been up to.

I'm crafty and you know it. *does pelvic thrust through blog post*

never a dull moment

video courtesy of Grey Granite

Soooo...this happened last night and this was just the end of what happened. The beginning was the little thing hopping up on top of a bar height table and dancing and stomping like nobodies business until the bartender made her get down. She was a feisty one. That wasn't doing it for her though, because then she hopped up on a chair and did some more dancing which ended up getting her kicked out. She didn't like that and made a big deal about it.

My Tuesday night spot is usually a pretty calm little place to hang out at. Nothing to exciting except for Detroit Dan (a homeless man) who does a lot of dancing and the occasional drunk girls dancing and bumping into everyone.

I did something out of the norm and wore a fitted skirt and heels (I normally throw on shorts/jeans and a t-shirt/cardi combo w/ sneakers) and some of my male friends made kind of a big deal about it. It was kinda funny and a little uncomfortable (the reactions, not the clothing).

Today was a lot of running around with friends and hanging out enjoying my one day off (I learned it was my only day off half way through the day, boo having to work, but the hours are pretty much all overtime now). We had a good lunch, a nice walk, saw a horse being ridden through the hood, sat and talked while sitting at the gazebo display at Lowe's like we were in someone's backyard and ran into a friend who zombied my face (bit my face, you guys have heard about that story right). Oh and I got to ride a bike for like a quarter of a block. It hurt my butt and the seat was too high. I definitely almost fell off.

Now I'm exhausted and need to get ready for work tomorrow.  I just wanna sleep in and create. I need to work on finding some balance. How's your week going so far?

5AT: good food and tomfoolery

fuck a uniform, I'm wearing shorts to work

five awesome things

  1. winning giveaways - This week I won the my girl thursday x nerdJERK giveaway. AWESOME!!! Who doesn't like winning stuff? And it's crafty goodness kind of stuff. Things like this are always a nice surprise. And I forgot that I'd entered into this giveaway, so that made the deal even sweeter.
  2. sunny days - We had a mild winter and then it warmed up super early and then got kinda a cold again and now the weather is nice and sunny. And even though the sun is so bright that it kills my eyes...I still LOVE it. The days are getting longer too, which means playing outside more and less use of electricity. Yup, I think about those things, even though I'm a water waster.
  3. randomness that occurs when hanging out with friends - What was supposed to be a walk on the Monon with Jinni and Gritts turned into dinner at Yats...hijinx walking through Broadripple, karaoke and staying out way late when I had to work the next morning. But it was fun, so who cares if I didn't get enough sleep. The randomness is the best sometimes. Go with the flow and enjoy life.
  4. trying new restaurants - I ate out every day this week except for Saturday. *smh* On Thursday I enjoyed a delicious burger with AB at Bru Burger Bar on Mass Ave. AB and I used to try out new places all the time. We have to start doing that again. Sitting around eating good food and talking. Are you noticing a theme here...food...friends...fun.
  5. shorts - With warm weather, come dresses and shorts. It's time to show off those pretty tan legs...and keep cool. I've always had a hard time finding pants and shorts that fit. It seems like nowadays shorts are so short they look like panties. I'm 30 something. I'm not down with that. But Old Navy came through for me this season and I found some shorts that I love. Just the right length and height. And I love the color is perfect too, coral. Now I just need to save up and buy a few more pair. If only I could wear shorts to work. Thought with long sleeves and the apron, that would look kind of awkward.

...i am yours...i am yours...

Sometimes my titles have nothing to do with the blog post. They're usually just random song lyrics. Probably a song I'm listening to at the time that I'm typing.

Today has been an awesome week. It has been an awesome week. I feel like I did a lot, but then didn't do anything at all.

I applied for a job at the Lego Store that's opening up in April on Saturday. I received a call from the company on Monday to schedule an interview on Tuesday. I was hired on the spot. I get to play with Legos. How awesome is that? I'm pretty excited. Some people have looked at my uh...yeah I guess that's cool and then others are like OMG that's awesome!!! I GET TO PLAY WITH LEGOS!!! And sell them too.

Wednesday Old Soul Entertainment held their annual J Dilla Tribute at the Jazz Kitchen...along with that Black Milk was in town for a performance as well. It was a good show. The energy was amazing. I carried around an orange the whole night. Ha! I know folks thought it was strange, but I had no pockets. I was fortunate enough to plant myself right at the front of the stage. There were a lot of handsome men at the show, which is normally the case at Hip Hop shows. I wasn't on the prowl though (I never really am), but the ladies in short dresses and stilettos were. I still don't get why ladies dress like that at Hip Hop shows.

Black Milk
I spent Thursday at the Indiana State Museum with my friend Tony Styxx. Then we grabbed a burger at Boogie Burger. I tried the Rise and Shine. Who knew a fried egg on a burger would taste so good? Messy, but good. I love a place where even though I don't frequent it every week, the staff knows me and I'm greeted by either my first name or occasionally my Twitter handle when I walk in the door. After gaining a few pounds from the burger deliciousness we went and smoked hookah at The Egyptian. So relaxing.

Since I think it's pretty clear that TheNemesis isn't interested in me the same way I'm interested in him, I'm letting that go. And I'm okay with that. I usually find myself attracted to gentlemen that are unavailable. I don't know how to change that, but I'm working on it. He's still pretty awesome and a great friend though.

I need to do something productive. I've been dragging my butt on creating new things. I have the ideas, I've just been lazy I guess. I'm not sure what it is. There seems to be a little bit of unhappiness hanging around. Dissatisfaction too. I need a schedule and studio space. I think that'd make working a lot easier. I should probably stop making excuses. Meh.

i just want to ride bikes with you

I did something different on Thursday and I went out for St. Patrick's Day with my old coworkers. It was actually pretty fun. I'm glad that the weather was nice and I was able to wear shorts. I drank. A LOT. I was told I looked like Dr. Oliva (no idea who that is) and I was also called Mary Ann. Yeah. I don't know. Drunk people. I walked all the way back to the bar we paid a small cover at to pee. I didn't want to pay another larger cover just to go inside and pee at the bar we were at. It made sense to me. And my pockets.

TheNemesis now knows that I like him and have a crush on him. He's adorably cute and I just want to cuddle with him and kiss him on the lips.

The rain and lack of motivation kept me in all day Friday. I think it was probably all the alcohol from the previous night too. I don't know. But I surely was coming up with excuses not have to leave my apartment. I also got my first letter from my new pen pal Cuppy. She's cute and I think I love her already.

I was pretty much a tired and lazy bum on Saturday too. I did get a few things done though (worked on a new art piece). Took a couple of naps and stayed up way too late. I finished making a delicious Beef Stew with Beer and Paprika...at like 1100 and I had to have a bowl, so I kinda had to stay up for a couple of hours so I wasn't sitting with all that food in my stomach. (I always spell stomach with an e at the end and ALWAYS have to delete it).

I missed the Super Moon. (Even that couldn't get me to put on clothes and go outside.) I've seen some photos though and it looked amazing.

I did finally leave the house today. I had to. I had two photo shoots scheduled. And because the bus couldn't get me close enough to where I needed to be I had a nice long walk to one location. I'm not complaining, it made up for not leaving the house for two days. I enjoyed both photo shoots. The first was for a project that I'm working on with a friend. I can't wait to schedule more shoots for this project. The second shoot was for a local band. They had me standing in the middle of the street snapping pictures of them. The things you do to get the shot. I hope to get to take more pictures of them in the future.

Today is the first day of Spring. A Spring wish list is coming soon. To a theatre near you. Eh, more like a blog near you. My blog even. Mmmmm hmmmmm. I'm being weird again.

I can't wait for the J Dilla Tribute/Black Milk show on Wednesday. Can't wait!!!

*title is from a shirt someone had on YouTube. I really do want to ride bikes with him.

i'm a big kid at heart

I was let go from my job on Wednesday. I didn't do anything wrong, it just slowed down and I wasn't needed anymore. Kinda sucks. I spent most of my days dicking around on the computer. Seems most folks don't really care to pay you to do that. *shrugs*

My first day of unemployment and I slept in until almost noon. I couldn't even do that on the weekends. The next day of course I was up early again. At least I got one day of sleeping in.

I need to make this time of unemployment productive. There's lots to do and I'm a major procrastinator.

Now that the weather is warming up, I'm going to start walking/running again. Mine as well since I wake up so early.

This weekend has been pretty great. And the coming week is promising.

Saturday, Neighbor and I went to the mall so she could buy some sneakers that she had her eye on. Some how I ended up coming home with two pairs of sneakers myself, a finger puppet, nail polish and eyeliner. I spent less than $10. You can't beat that.

I've been buying a lot of old school toys lately. A kazoo, a kaleidoscope and now this finger puppet. I love toys. I'm a big kid at heart.

Today I had brunch with OldRoomie and Neighbor. Delicious and fun. After lunch we ventured over to Home Depot so Neighbor could find an air conditioner. It's still too early in the season for them, but I walked out with a piece of MDF and some paint. Art project coming soon to a theatre near you. We were making caulk and wood jokes. I think we might've made the sales associate a little uncomfortable. It was pretty damn funny though.

I told OldRoomie about TheNemisis. She said she could see how I light up about him. I totally do. I think he's the bee's knees and wish we talked more. I wonder what he thinks of me. I'm not the type to ask. *shrugs*

Chicago, hold me in your arms

But first I should probably wish all 0 of my followers a Happy New Year! So...Happy New Year!

Chicago was awesome. So awesome that I'm tempted to move there. Kinda. Maybe not, maybe just visit...A LOT.

So early December I messaged my friend Lizard on facebook asking her when we were gonna meet up in Chicago again. (She lives in Davenport, IA. Chicago is a good halfway point for us.) And she promptly replied that we should meet up later in the month. I thought about it for about two seconds and checked out some hotel rates and said to myself, hey why not. We put our plans into action and I started saving and moving money around to get things settled. And then I remembered that my Lexulous nemesis, Greg, was going to be home in Chicago at the same time and thought hey we should FINALLY meet up.

Greg and I met on MySpace like 5 years ago and timing was never right to meet up. Either I was there and he was somewhere else in the country or I had no plans to be in Chicago when he was home or when we were both there one of us had transportation issues. Always something.

Anywho, I was pretty damn excited for Christmas day to come and be over with (I don't celebrate Christmas) so we could get to Chicago and have a grand ol' time. I watched the weather obsessively to see if it would be snowing or super cold or whatever might happen that would make our trip not happen. And thankfully mother nature was nice to us and the weather was pretty good. It was actually warmer in Chicago than it was here at home. Which I would say is pretty rare.

The bus ride to Chicago was packed, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised. It was the day after Christmas and a Sunday. By the way, I LOVE the megabus. If it's in your area, you should give it a shot for some of your traveling needs. When we arrived I had a plan, because I'm a planner. My plan was to hit up Popeye's (they closed all the ones here because of bankruptcy I think) and have lunch while I waited for Lizard to get into town. Yeah, that didn't happen. I had it mapped out and hopped off the bus, used the bathroom and got to walking. It started snowing and when I got to Popeye's...it was closed. [insert huge sad face here] I was so very disappointed and I needed a rest, but I decided to just keep walking. It was about a two mile walk, with a heavyish bag, in the snow and the wind. I could've grabbed a cab, but I'm stubborn like that. Lizard arrived at the hotel probably 30 minutes after I did.

Both of us were hungry so we hit up the Indian Garden that was around the corner from our hotel. Pretty much everywhere we ate and went was down the street or around the corner from our hotel. It was PERFECT! Lizard found a Panera Bread (she eats there every day) and told me she would sneak out of bed to have breakfast there the next morning so I wouldn't know.) Indian was delicious, even if it does sometimes resemble baby poop.

Lizard enjoying yummy baby poop.

After lunch we decided to hit up the shops. I made sure to let Lizard know that I HAD to go to the Lego store, it was on my list. IT WAS ON MY LIST! Ha!

We're going to the Lego store!

We hit The Mile to walk off some of that food and ducked into a few shops to get warm. Lizard was looking for a New Year's dress and I wasn't really looking for anything in particular. I just like to look. I did want to hit up Sephora though, but that was really about it. There wasn't anything that really caught Lizard's eye so we headed back to the room, but first made a stop at the Hershey store and then Ghiradelli for some hot cocoa. Hot cocoa with caramel and sea salt sprinkled on top. Divine!
those Reese's cups were a half lb EACH! want!

When we go back to the room Lizard wanted to hit up the hot tub. I didn't bring my suit, but also didn't want to be sitting in the room by myself so I put on my sleep shorts and headed down there with her. There were little minions everywhere. I got a towel and sat on the edge of the hot tub and soaked my feet. It was nice. I tried to read a book, but the minions were splashing everywhere. There was a lot of stop doing that from the parents, but that did nothing. What happened to discipline?

After that we headed back out into the night for dinner. We hit up Kamehachi for sushi. It was kinda late and the wait staff seemed a bit perturbed when we walked in. Oops, but hey we had to eat. At the end of the meal the server came over and asked if there was anything else he could get for us and Lizard asked for something and the server awkwardly laughed and said oh, I actually closed out, I was just trying to be nice. Ha!

Monday my mission was to hit up a bank to get Lizard the rest of the money I owed her for the hotel room. Greg texted me while I was in the shower to find out what our plans for the day were because he was close by. Lizard hit up Panera for breakfast while I waited for Greg (nothing special when we met, just a hey, finally) and then we all walked across the street for a bit to eat at The Corner Bakery. Greg was a sweetheart and bought breakfast. I almost always love a man who feeds me. :) We all sat and talked for a good almost two hours. And I think one of the servers was flirting with me. Maybe? During our good long chat Lizard told me that she looked up to me in HS. Which was nice, but weird at the same time. I don't feel like I was anyone special back then. I wasn't trying to save the world. I wasn't popular. I was just me, doing my own thing. I did my best to be a good person, but I've always been that way. It made me realize that you really never know who's watching you.
Lizard didn't get the memo about black frame glasses. Also aren't we the sexiest nerds ever?
After what turned into brunch we kidnapped Greg and went shopping. He was a trooper. AND he went to the Lego store with me (where R. Kelly was serenading all the children through the speakers, who does that?). He's after my heart for sure. *winks* We're gonna do a travel show using Legos or something like that. Don't steal our idea. I'll cut you. Yeah you.

Dinner time came and it was time to bid Greg adieu.[insert sad face here] We navigated the streets to Greek Town dropped Greg off and hit up Greek Islands for some tasty treats. This was the only place we ate at that wasn't near the hotel. We HAD to have Greek food, it reminded of us Germany (oh did I not tell you, that's where I know Lizard from). I tried grilled octopus and had to have my usual gyro that I ALWAYS have when I go to a Greek place. That gyro was so tasty, I was upset I left my leftovers. I really wanted to finish them. We had a great seat in the restaurant. It was like we were reigning over our kingdom. Also I almost had my eyebrows singed off when someone below us ordered the flaming cheese and I leaned over to see what was going on. Ha!
Octopus, YUM!!!

When we got back from dinner we sat for a few and then decided to head back out into the night for a walk and more shopping. More so to walk than anything. I brought my camera with me to take a few pictures. I need to get better and taking pictures when I go on vacation. It'd probably help if I had a smaller point and shoot as opposed to my DSLR. We stopped again at Ghiradelli for hot cocoa. It's so good how could you not. Once back at the hotel it was hot tub time again. And then rest. We'd been on the go for over 12 hours.

While the sheets and pillows were nice and cozy for some reason I couldn't get any good sleep. I spent both nights tossing and turning and sleeping in different spots in the bed. I don't think Lizard slept well either. I know Tuesday morning we both woke up at around 430 in the morning and just laid there and talked until we fell back asleep.

Tuesday was check out and more shopping/walking around. I had a great time in Chicago and really didn't want to get on the bus to leave. I could've used a couple of extra days. Lizard and I decided that we'd make than an annual trip. It seems like the perfect time. Right after Christmas there are are some good sales and lodging is a decent rate. It was good to see Lizard and I'm glad Greg and I finally got to meet.

For Me, Otherwise Just a Perk for Us (whoever he may be)

I did it. I up and got my nipples pierced. I figured if I can have my wisdom teeth* ripped from their sockets with just a bit of Novocaine, then nipple piercings are gonna be nothing. And they were for the most part just a little pinch and some pressure. Although they are a little sore now, I'll be fine. I can't wait to play and have them played with. Joe did a great job. He made me free uber comfortable standing/laying there jugs exposed. He asked why the nipples. Because I've been wanting to get it done and well...I don't have a lot of sensation in that are and figured these pretty babies would help. And what did he tell me...it would. Woo hoo!!! The salt water soak is going to be interesting (sitting for 5 to 10 minutes with my nipples resting in mini cups of salt water) and I'm not going to enjoy having to wear a bra to bed, but hey it's got to be done.

Off to sleep for me. This is going to be awkward as I normally sleep on my stomach.

*a little over a week ago I ended up at the emergency dentist and had to have my top two wisdom teeth pulled...not fun, but I got some good drugs. Not looking forward to the bottom two being removed.

An Open Letter to My Bed

Dear Bed:

You've been in my life for about a year and half now.  And the time we've spent together has been splendiforous.  You and comforter and pillows have always welcomed me with open arms day and night.  We've made some great memories together.  You comfort me when I'm sick.  You keep me warm during the cold winter months.  You protect me from the monsters hiding in the boxes underneath.  I love you bed, as much as a person can and that's why it pains me to say this...we've been spending way too much time together lately.  Our relationship is beginning to seem unhealthy.  I think we need a break.  I'm not leaving you for good.  We'll still have our regularly nightly appointments, but we can't see each other during the day as much.  It's not healthy.  I'll still visit sometimes for short quick naps, but for now we need some time apart. Please don't be angry.

Now That's What I Call a Birthday Celebration

Had a great weekend this past weekend w/ AB and friends. We celebrated AB's birthday all weekend long.

Friday began with manicures and pedicures. I'm really not a fan of painted fingers but went with it anyway. They didn't last long though as I picked off the final chips of paint Tuesday evening. After pampering we mosied on over to Abuelo's w/ her cousin TT for a late lunch. Lunch was fabulous, but we already knew it would be. We topped off our night at Radio Radio for Soul Session 3.1A hosted by Old Soul Entertainment. Two of AB's college buddies came down for the weekend and proceeded to show AB a good time by keeping the drinks flowing. One of the owners of Old Soul also helped out and bit and made sure we had a good time. I have to say it was quite hilarious to hear every so often, "My lips are numb." We all definitely enjoyed ourselves. Afterwards we hit up IHOP where upon entrance they told us the new cook was awful, we sat and waited anyway. After about 45 minutes and still no one had come to take our order we decided maybe Steak n' Shake would be a better place to eat.
The party continued Saturday with lunch at Bahama Breeze. The waiter was a bit odd, but we still had a great time. Good food and all. We took the out of towners downtown to see the mall w/ the hotels connected to it. LOL. Then it was home for some rest so that we could get ready for another night on the town. We went downtown to Ice Ultra Lounge were our favorited DJ just happened to be spinning vinyl...okay so we knew that's where he'd be. Enjoyed the music and then hit up Popeye's for late night snack.

Sunday was pretty tame. We grilled some goodies over at AB's and relaxed the rest of the day. I think we all had a great time and I can only wish that we could get together and do it more than once a year. I'd say let's do it once a month, but partying like a rockstar is hard work.

Still Recovering...Sorta

This past weekend was the BEST.WEEKEND.EVER. In celebration of my half birthday that was on the 26th. Half birthday you ask? LOL. More like an excuse to go out and party.I took Friday off and did a lil' shopping...that's always fun. Spent the evening at home relaxing. AB informed me that we had an appt. Saturday at 3PM. Wouldn't give me any clues as to what it was about. I'm thinking pedicures or piercings.One-thirty rolls around and we are off to our appt. We head downtown and drive past Conseco Fieldhouse and I notice there's a game about to start (I thought it was supposed to be an evening game) and wonder out loud who the Pacers are playing. AB turns to me and says she knows and she's not telling because it doesn't matter because we are going to the game. Very nice surprise as I had been wanting to catch a Pacers game. They lost, but it was still a good time.

Later on in the evening we got all dolled up and hit the town. Boobage was in full force. Had a few drinks and danced. Even though it was just the two of us we still had a blast. We ended the night with a sandwich from Jimmy John's at 3AM. Perfect end to a perfect evening.

Sunday I had lunch with DE. Most enjoyable. Three hours of talking, joking around and text messaging while sitting right in front of each other. It reminded me of the standing appt. that Clark and I used to share where we'd have a pitcher and a pie, we'd shoot the breeze and I'd make Clark drink the whole pitcher by himself and then send him off to class.

Also enjoyed a long conversation Sunday night with a new possible.

Been on the go since Monday morning. Work...out after work...home in time to shower and fall in the bed only to wake up and do it all over again. Today was the first day I didn't have anything to do after work...but tomorrow...more to do. I've been tired...but enjoying all the being out and about and a little excited to see where things go with the new possible.

ETA:

Thought it might be appropriate to add a photo of Saturday evening, courtesy of AB. This has been dubbed my Capt'n Morgan stance.

Please note: Both of those drinks are not mine. I rarely, if ever carry a "purse" or "dress up". That shirt is actually a dress...but obviously too short to be a dress for me. And yes, I know I've got a nice rack...er...smile. Thankyouverymuch.

Is It Possible?

I had my friend KR from high school tell me that based on a current photo that: 1) I look like I did in HS and 2) I look like I'm still 16. Wow, 16. I've gotten 19, 20, 21, but never 16. I'm coming up on 26 and 16 just doesn't seem right. I know that when I'm mid 30's anything in the 20's will be a compliment. I don't exactly do anything special to "stay" young, I think it just runs in my family. My grandma is in her late 70's and I'd put her in her late 50's, early 60's and my dad is 53 and is mistaken for late 30's all the time. I wonder if it's something we can bottle up and sell on eBay.

What else? It's been a good week. Another friend (MJ) from high school was in town and we hung out and had a few drinks on Monday and Tuesday. Nice for me to get out and good to hang out with friends from high school. Tuesday we went to a bar and played some pool with her brother and a few of his friends. Pool was fun, MJ and I won 4 out of 5 games against those boys. It wasn't skill that won us those games though, it was them scratching on the 8. At one point after a few too many drinks we had the guys going. We told them they were stripes and they aimed at the stripes, unfortunately for us, they didn't sink any of them. It was a pretty good laugh that my sides were aching. Poor guys, lucky them we didn't collect on the drinks they owed us. Especially at $9/drink. Closing time came and we headed back to B and ?'s place for a bit, where we proceeded to collect the cardboard coasters laying around and would fling them all at B unexpectly. The look on his face was priceless.

Wednesday I took myself to the movies to see Elizabethtown. Decent movie. Wednesday night I realized that I was starting to get sick. I stayed in all day Thursday. Planned on taking myself to the store to pick up medicine, but it was raining and I fell asleep for a good part of the afternoon. Man that was a good nap. Which brings us to today...made it to the store to get medicine and told myself that I could only buy what I could carry. $25 for 6 items. Sheesh. Need to look for coupons for medicine next time or maybe just not get sick.

Weekend doesn't look too promising, will probably just work on some projects and clean up. Hopefully by Monday I'll be feeling a lot better.

Oh and I want to mention that TH and CJ are the greatest, I'm on a spending freeze and they sent me GC's to scrapbooking places for my birthday, great way to get around a freeze.

Absent Minded Me

Today is laundry day so I separate my clothes into my three loads and get to washing. Whites are in the dryer drying so I start on the darks. Normally while the washer is filling with water and after I've put in the soap I proceed to put in the clothes. Why I didn't this time is beyond me, I went to do something else instead. I notice the washer is going and go check and see that it's full of suds and lid is still open so I close it so I can proceed with the washing. The whites are still drying and I hear that the washer is done so I figure I'll take those out so I can start on my last load as I walk over to the washer I notice that the darks are still sitting on the floor near the washer. Yup, you got it, I never put the clothes in the washer. Figures...looks like I need to learn how to pay attention to what I'm doing. Too many things going on at once. Must got back and finish the laundry.

Please Sir Can I Have Some More

What a wonderful weekend it was...I guess. A former classmate (NK) invited me to a party at a co-workers house. She said she'd be by to pick me up at about 3: 00 - 3:30, because she needed to get her car looked at, really not sure what that had to do with what time she was stopping by to pick me up, but whatever. Well 3:30 rolled around and nothing. Then 4:30 rolled around and I receive a phone call, she just got home and she'll be over after she get's changed. That's cool, but a call at around 3:30 would've been nice. Those of you who know me know that it really gets under my skin when someone is late and they don't at least call and say why. Anyway...NK gets here at about 5:30, as I'm walking out to meet her she lets me know that she needs to let her engine cool off a bit.
We sit for a few and then head on our way. We get going and after about 10 minutes it's starting to smoke under the hood, NK says she'll stop in a few to let it cool off again. We get on the interstate and now there's a funny noise she she pulls over and now it's smoking more. We get out and I move back a bit because I don't want to be anywhere near if that thing catches fire. We wait a few and it just so happens that a tow truck heading in the other direction had seen us and decided to turn around and stop. How very nice of him. He tows us to the exit we needed and drops us at a gas station. No charge for the tow. How very kind of him.

Well we wait around again to let the engine cool off. NK takes the car out of park and we start to roll back, she steps on the brakes and nothing, NOTHING. She puts the card back in park. Then she tries to start the car, it starts and she takes it out of park and we roll back again. She puts it back in park and turns the ignition off. She goes to start it again and nothing. I'm laughing by now, it's just too funny. She calls her insurance company to come tow her car to the dealer and then calls a cab. We take the cab to the south side of town to where the party is at...$45.00 for a cab.

The party was pretty cool...midnight rolls around and I'm ready to go and then someone suggests going to a bar. Cool, why not. They call a cab. An hour later they call a cab again. Still nothing. One thirty rolls around and they call again and figure out that they live too far out to get anyone to drive out there to pick us up so NK's co-worker takes me home. On the way home NK asks if I'd like to join them at the zoo tomorrow. That's cool, I ain't got nothing else to do.

It's already about two and I'm beat...but hungry so I warm up some food and eat and then hop in the bed after sending a text message to DW. No response and I fall asleep. I'd only been asleep for about 20 minutes when I hear this weird noise and wake up. New text message...me thinks I woke someone up so I call DW and we talk until about 5:30 in the morning, 6:30 for him. Good conversation. I really enjoy talking to DW and getting to know him more. I felt like I was wide awake when I got off the phone but fell asleep quickly.

I don't know what it was Sunday morning, but I really wasn't expecting to go to the zoo, but NK called at a little after noon to let me know that someone would be by to pick me up at two. That's cool, I got enough time to eat and shower. I jump in the shower after one and not too long after I get out and start getting dressed I hear a knock on the door. It's not even a quarter to two yet. It seems dude was told we were going to meet at the zoo at two. Fine, I can get dressed quick. I ask him to give me 15 minutes and it actually only takes me 5. I'm quick like that, one of those lovely low maintenance ladies.

We head to the zoo and it seems NK ain't gonna be there until 2:30 which dude takes to be three. Nice. We head in an take a gander around. Decent zoo, ain't no San Diego Zoo, but it's cool. We finally meet up with NK at 3:30 and finish our walk around and hit the Dolphin Show. The Dolphin Show was nice. We sat in the splash zone and it was pretty cool, but not the greatest view. It's closing time by now so we hit up one more spot and then head out. It's already dinner time so we suggest getting something to eat downtown. Well we didn't end up going downtown to eat, but I still got to eat and then got home.

Now I'm tired, but I'm forcing myself to stay up. I don't know why I do this to myself, but I'm not ready to go to bed. It was a pretty decent weekend. Better than sitting at home all weekend. I think I enjoyed my phone conversation the most. Need to have more of those.

Monday Update

Let's see, what's been up with me you ask? A whole lot of nothing, well at least to me that's what it feels like.
Last Thursday I went on my first "date", if that's what you want to call it. I don't feel comfortable calling it that and don't feel like that's what it was. I've got a whole other blog for that and if you're special enough and you email me I'll get you the link.

Friday, the day was filled with not a while lot. And then as I'm getting ready to go out I receive a call from my good friend B. He was trying to sneak up on me (like I was up to anything) but remembered that the gate at my apartment complex is normally closed at night. Score one for the apartment complex: No unwanted visitors...unless they piggy back in, which could mean a nice long wait at the gate. I'm nicer than I thought, I let him stop by and shower so he could go out with other friends, heck I had plans with other people anyway.

Just before I was getting ready to go I ran across the name of a guy I went to college with online and whom I had been thinking about. It's funny how that happens. I dropped him a quick line, but I'm doubtful that he'll get back to me.

Went out with my friend AB as it's her last weekend in town before she's off to grad school. We had a place we were set on going to All Stars, but ended up down town at Tiki Bob's instead. It was a pretty decent place to hang out, hot in the front room, nice and cool in the back. We walked outside for a bit and ran into a very good looking former coworker. Yum. Chatted with him for a bit and went back into TB's. They started repeating songs so we headed out again and went to Have a Nice Day Cafe. The music selection and crowd were much better. But only up until some guy grabbed my arm. I'm sorry, if you want to talk to me you approach me, you don't just grab my arm. Oh and my name ain't Mami, Lil' Mama or Shawty, so don't call me that. We were also harassed by a guy about dancing for a good 5 - 10 minutes and it was then that we decided it was time to go and headed back to TB's for a bit. We couldn't take any of the repeated songs so we decided it was time to head home. I was starving though so we stopped off at Popeye's for a bite to eat. Nothing like fried chicken and biscuits at 3:30 in the morning.

Saturday wasn't very exciting. I spent ALL day at AB's cutting fruit, seasoning meat and helping clean up the garage so that it'd be ready for the BBQ on Sunday. I think the only part of the day worth mentioning is when CB (AB's friend) burnt the rib tips that we had planned on eating. AB and I seasoned those bad boys up nice and could already taste them only to have our hearts broken because of a grilling error. We still had some ribs, but it just wasn't the same.

Sunday was AB's BBQ. It was good fun. We ate, we chatted, we sat around and watched TV. There was lots of food left over. (I didn't bring home a plate, but am hoping there's still some food left. LOL).

Today, I basically layed in bed all day and it was pretty blah. TheBestFriend called and I'm not happy with him. I'm not quite sure what it is, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. I just don't like him right now. I suppose it's about time in the cycle of our friendship for me to be upset/mad/whatever with him. I don't think I want to talk to him for about a month or so. Maybe then I'll feel better.
